From Senator Obama’s Book “Audacity of Hope”

His published thoughts on Abortion:

[An abortion protester at a campaign event] handed me a pamphlet. "Mr. Obama, I know you're a Christian, with a family of your own. So how can you support murdering babies?"
I told him I understood his position but had to disagree with it. I explained my belief that few women made the decision to terminate a pregnancy casually; that any pregnant woman felt the full force of the moral issues involved when making that decision (1) ; that I feared a ban on abortion would force women to seek unsafe abortions, as they had once done in this country (2). I suggested that perhaps we could agree on ways to reduce the number of women who felt the need to have abortions in the first place. (3)
"I will pray for you," the protester said. "I pray that you have a change of heart." Neither my mind nor my heart changed that day, nor did they in the days to come(4). But that night, before I went to bed, I said a prayer of my own-that I might extend the same presumption of good faith to others that had been extended to me. (5)

My response to His comments above:

(1) The “full force of the moral issues involved in the decision to have an abortion” are not brought to bare if we as a society tell our citizens that it is legal to have one. We have an obligation as members of this society (a community) to decide what is appropriate for our society. This includes murder. In the debate that has raged regarding this issue we have allowed the opposition to define the terms. This is not a personal rights issue. This is an issue regarding our willingness as a society to condone murder.
(2) There is no such thing as a safe abortion. Humans are being killed.
(3) Changes in the culture are leading in the exact opposite direction from your expressed desire here and the liberal agenda is leading the charge.
(4) That is a shame.
(5) His “presumption of good faith” is really asking that we have a change of heart and through prayer decide that murder is good, that personal rights trump moral obligations and that lies are TRUTH.

Mixed Messages on Homosexual Marriage

Last week's newswires delivered conflicting stories about the future of marriage in California. The state constitutional amendment that defines marriage as between "a man and a woman" qualified for the November ballot, in a clear statement on voters' family values. Yet on Wednesday, the state Supreme Court refused to stay its ruling that legalizes homosexual marriage until the election passes. Its refusal may create trouble for newlywed homosexuals.

Over 1.1 million Californians signed petitions to qualify the marriage amendment for the state ballot, considerably more than the 694,354 signatures needed. Their victory underscores that voters hold family values and want marriage defined in the traditional way.

This November, they can pass the California Marriage Protection Act by marking "yes" on Initiative 1298.

If passed, the amendment would overrule the Supreme Court's ruling on homosexual marriage. Conservative groups asked the Court to stay its ruling until after November, but it refused.

This means homosexuals can begin marrying on June 17, despite the expectation that Initiative 1298 will reaffirm one man, one woman marriage. Karen England, Executive Director of Capitol Resource Institute, called this "an example of the Supreme Court being out of touch."

California Attorney General Jerry Brown told the New York Times that a stay is unnecessary. "Same-sex marriage is a deeply contentious issue," he said, "but in California the matter has now been resolved by the state Supreme Court." The issue is not resolved: the people have yet to vote. Homosexuals may wed in June, but they risk holding invalid licenses in November.

Homosexuals take Congress by Storm!

The two openly homosexual members of the U.S. House of Representatives have recruited 50 of their colleagues to officially join them in promoting the homosexual agenda in Congress.

Democrats Barney Frank of Massachusetts and Tammy Baldwin of Wisconsin are the only open homosexuals serving in Congress. They have joined with Republicans Ileana Ros-Lehtinen of Florida and Christopher Shays of Connecticut, and 50 other Democrats to create the House Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, and Transgender Caucus. It is a sad day when Congress enshrines official promotion of sexual immorality.

How interesting that we now have a homosexuality, transsexual caucus – I guess you could call it – at the congressional level. It's just unbelievable that there are this many congressmen who are promoting homosexuality and transsexual perversion. I think what this shows is that the hard-core Democratic Left is extremely pro-homosexual. Christians, perhaps, could learn something from the success of homosexual activists. With very small numbers, they have managed to create the perception of a much larger constituency and, thereby, have many of their political demands met.

The 52 members of the LGBT Caucus are:
Tammy Baldwin (D-WI), Barney Frank (D-MA), Rob Andrews (D-NJ), Xavier Becerra (D-CA), Lois Capps (D-CA), Yvette Clarke (D-NY), Joseph Crowley (D-NY), Diana DeGette (D-CO), Keith Ellison (D-MN), Raúl Grijalva (D-AZ), Mike Honda (D-CA), Barbara Lee (D-CA), James McGovern (D-MA), Jerrold Nadler (D-NY), Linda Sánchez (D-CA), Jan Schakowsky (D-IL), Hilda Solis (D-CA), Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-FL), Henry Waxman (D-CA), Anthony Weiner (D-NY), Peter Welch (D-VT), Howard Berman (D-CA), Earl Blumenauer (D-OR), Robert Brady (D-PA), Michael Capuano (D-MA), Susan Davis (D-CA), Rosa DeLauro (D-CT), Eliot Engel (D-NY), Anna Eshoo (D-CA), Luis Gutierrez (D-IL), Phil Hare (D-IL), Rush Holt (D-NJ), Sheila Jackson Lee (D-TX), Eddie Bernice Johnson (D-TX), Patrick Kennedy (D-RI), Dennis Kucinich (D-OH), Zoe Lofgren (D-CA), Carolyn Maloney (D-NY), Doris Matsui (D-CA), James Moran (D-VA), Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-Washington, D.C.), Frank Pallone (D-NJ), Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (R-FL), Steven Rothman (D-NJ), José Serrano (D-NY), Chris Shays (R-CT), Pete Stark (D-CA), Betty Sutton (D-OH), Ellen Tauscher (D-CA), Niki Tsongas (D-MA), Robert Wexler (D-FL), Lynn Woolsey (D-CA).

The average voter in most of these 52 congressional districts has no idea that their elected representative is openly promoting sexual immorality. This November will be an important time to tell our representatives what the average voter really expects from our representatives
